Bristol Inner City Football Academy Taste More Academy Success!

2nd June 2019

It’s with great pleasure to report that another two players have progressed into the academy ranks and another ex player signed scholarship forms with FGR.

Olly Sully  U13 – Olly fulfils Academy Dream!

A born goal scorer who came to us at a time when confidence was low and previous trials had not quite worked out.

Olly joined us at the start of the season and soon settled in, he was a pleasure to have around our squad. Olly scored lots of goals and his performances were improving game by game. The standout quality he showed was his appetite to want to get better. Olly is fully ready for this next challenge now and we would like to take this opportunity to wish Olly all the best with Bristol City. Well done Olly.

Mum commented:

Through sheer determination, hard work and some tough love from his coach Paul Hirons, he has developed and grown in confidence and technical ability since joining BIC this season. The positive and professional environment has given him the platform to develop himself further technically, physically and mentally whilst still enjoying his football…

I’d also like to thank Paul Hirons for the work he as done with Olly, especially getting him into a positive place to develop and realise his full potential!

Jenson Lugton U11 – Forest Green Rovers

Jenson joined BIC two season ago and made good progress and even bigger steps this season. A determined player who plays the game with his heart on his sleeve, Jenson has been a pleasure to coach. Technically he has improved and has also shown good speed and defensive technique in and out of possession.

I am pleased for the new Jenson and shows again what can be achieved with good focus and hard-work. Jenson’s ability was never in question, it was just about getting his mentality right to allow him to push onto the next level.

Well done to all coaches who have assisted with Jenson’s development and everyone at Bristol Inner City wishes Jenson all the best for the future!

Ex Bristol Inner City Player – Archie Thayer Signs Forest Green Rovers Scholarship

I’d also like to congratulate Archie Thayer who has signed a 2 year scholarship agreement with Forest Green Rovers.

Archie won’t mind me saying that he left BIC back in 2013 to join Bristol City Academy, where he left this season to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Archie was then offered trials with a number of League Clubs and has shown great resilience and commitment to keep pursuing his dream. After a successful trial, he was offered a 2 year scholarship with Forest Green Rovers.

I’m sure everyone at the club will join me in wishing Archie all the very best for the future!
